This constant internal review of de-identified data is our commitment to proactive bias mitigation and system reliability. No personally identifiable information (PII) from children is used for public AI model training.

Data Retention​

 

We retain Personal Information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with services. Chat transcripts and non-PII educational progress data are retained for a maximum of 18 months to allow for long-term progress tracking and AI model tuning, after which they are either permanently deleted or fully anonymized. Upon termination of a child's account, all PII associated with that child will be deleted within 90 days, unless legally required otherwise.​

• Google Cloud Security: Our AI Homeroom platform relies on Google Cloud's data handling commitments, which prohibit the use of our customer data to train their general public-facing AI models.

• Encryption: Data in transit is safeguarded using HTTPS, TLS version 1.2 or higher, as well as SSL. Information stored at rest is protected through AES-256 encryption.

Children's Privacy​

 

To guarantee the safety of children under 13 who utilize our Site and our AI Homeroom platform, we adhere to the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and require that parents provide supervision and consent.

• We utilize a two-step verifiable parental consent process, typically involving an email confirmation link followed by a secondary verification, such as linking the child's profile to the verified parent account.

• We only collect personal data from minors younger than 13 with explicit, verifiable permission from their parents.

• Parent accounts will enable them to strictly monitor and review all of their children's activities and interactions on the Site, including full chat transcripts with AI tutors. This is a core security feature of our platform.

• In compliance with legal requirements, we do not share any information pertaining to children under 13 without prior verifiable parental approval.

• We refrain from gathering unnecessary information from children below 13 that does not directly support their educational goals and avoid collecting sensitive personal data beyond basic details like name and email address for this age group.​
